July Update
I sincerely hope that everyone is having a blessed summer—the weather has been just about perfect! The Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and guests are so very excited about our relocation to the former WaFd building at 1241 SW Barlow St. next to the movie theater and across from Dairy Queen. We believe that SPiN Cafe can make a positive addition to the neighborhood by giving our at-need and unhoused community members a place to go to get resources, food and use the restrooms and is close to the bus stop and essential services. This location brings a nice open space, a staff office, a private meeting room and two commercial grade restrooms. There is also space to install a commercial kitchen!
I want to bring everyone up to date on the status of our move to the new location and send out a wish list. We are still hoping to move in at the end of August or the first part of September. We have a few boxes to check off first:
As we prepare to open our doors, we have identified several items that we are in need of. If you are so moved to help us out with any of these items, please let me know and we can coordinate getting them to the new building.
We are excited to share this news with all of you! Keep watching your in-box for more news -- we will be having an open house prior to relocating.
Thank you for all your support and encouragement!

I want to bring everyone up to date on the status of our move to the new location and send out a wish list. We are still hoping to move in at the end of August or the first part of September. We have a few boxes to check off first:
- Have our contractor do some improvements and repairs identified in a building inspection
- Get through the permitting process with the City of Oak Harbor
- Contract with a fire alarm monitoring company
As we prepare to open our doors, we have identified several items that we are in need of. If you are so moved to help us out with any of these items, please let me know and we can coordinate getting them to the new building.
- 2 x 33 gallon garbage cans
- 2 x 13 gallon garbage cans for the restrooms with step-on pedal for hands-free use
- A cigarette butt can
- A rolling TV stand
- 3 x cell phone charging stations
- One or two vacuums, new or used in good condition, that are relatively easy to push
- 2 x Pump pots for coffee
We are excited to share this news with all of you! Keep watching your in-box for more news -- we will be having an open house prior to relocating.
Thank you for all your support and encouragement!
