Four-Week Joint-Church Discipleship Desserts

My Fellow Church Family and Christ Followers,

Jesus LONGS to gather his whole family together, but so often we resist and hesitate. And so, Jesus laments: “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!" (Matthew 23:37 ESV).

I am alive in my Wednesday morning pastors group which represents eleven different churches in Oak Harbor. We feel alive with each other, getting outside of our tribal boxes and fellowshipping and praying together as colleagues and siblings in Christ. We know the same will be true for our larger church families.

This summer, we want to offer a brief journey into gathering as God's larger family for discipleship conversations on two brief videos each evening (each video 6-10 minutes) and two short segments of table-group conversations and reflections on these themes. We will gather Wednesday Evenings 7:00 - 8:30 pm (Rotating Churches). Here is a sneak preview of the line up:

May 31 – Focus topics on UNITY & GRACE
 
June 7 – Focus topics on COMMANDS & LOVE
 
June 14 – Focus topics on SERVANTS & GUARDING
 
June 21 – Focus topics on SUFFERING, CONFIDENCE &
                  POWER, and THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

The format will include a welcome from the host pastor, opening prayer, two sessions of video + table talk with questions provided, and then closing table prayers followed by a dessert fellowship time for the last 20-30 minutes.

Please make a special effort to come out and participate to show unity in the body of Christ and intentionality of witnessing to the world in fulfillment of Jesus' dream: "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35 NIV).
