Peggy began worshiping at First United Methodist Church in January 1991 and in April of that year she was baptized and joined the church family.  Since that time she has played with the Praise Ringers Bell Choir, sung with the Chancel Choir, served on various committees, and with Betty Jo Shaddy-Brown has decorated the Sanctuary for the annual patriotic concert, painted backdrops for VBS, and decorated for Mirth events (annual themed evenings held from 1997-2012 to break-up the winter doldrums).

In 2000 Peggy re-connected with her high school sweetheart, Ray Stephens, and in 2004, they were married on the "Mystic Sea" in Bowman Bay under the shadow of the Deception Pass Bridge.  After completing a 32 year Civil Service  career, Peggy put her heart and soul and love of animals into a professional in-home cat sitting business called The Cat's Meow.

In 2007, God nudged Peggy into applying for, and being selected as Church Secretary at OHFUMC following the retirement of Elaine Jung.  Evidence of God's influence on perfect placement became evident when, during her training period, Peggy reached for the desk Bible to look up a scripture reading, and the dedication page showed the Bible had been donated by Peggy in memory of her mother!

Peggy welcomes all visitors to the office with a willingness to help, and promises to always keep the candy dish full!
