Stephen Ministry
Leader: Linda Rider or Sandy Shields

OHFUMC has had Stephen Ministry since about 1995.  This ministry is designed to assist the ministers with the pastoral care ministry of the church.  Caregivers receive 50 hours of training and on-going supervision to better assist the care-receivers that they meet with in person or at least by phone on a weekly basis.

Would you like to…

  • Discover, cultivate, and use the spiritual gifts you have been blessed with?
  • See yourself as an active partner in the mission and ministry of the church?
  • Find all aspects of your life enriched by the distinctively Christian caregiving skills you learn and practice?
  • Experience great joy as you see God working through them to bring hope and healing to a hurting person?
  • Grow spiritually as you experience the Lord's loving presence in community with other Christian caregivers?

Then you are invited to consider Stephen Ministry training consisting of 50 hours of instruction over 20 weeks involving pre-class readings and in-session lectures, discussion, practice, and video resources, teaching you the basics of Stephen Ministry caring relationships.  Successful completion of the training and your willingness to become a Stephen Minister leads to commissioning and your active involvement in this important church ministry.  Please indicate your interest by signing up in Centennial Hall or by talking to Linda Rider, 675-8475 or Sandy Shields, 675-9585.

Stephen Ministry Peer Group Supervision is held monthly (Sept-May) on the third Sunday at 6:30pm.
